Asked

Straight answers before the first message.

This page covers the common stuff people usually ask before booking TNR Protography: what Dean shoots, how pricing works, travel from Greymouth, wedding coverage, portraits, real estate, drone use, prints, RAW files, copyright, and what happens after you send an enquiry.

Booking

Booking starts with a simple enquiry. Nothing is locked in until availability, location, travel, timing, package fit, and any final details are reviewed.

How do I book a shoot?

Use the contact form. The form sends an enquiry to Dean, then he reviews the date, location, travel, package choice, and any details before confirming anything.

Is submitting the form a confirmed booking?

No. Submitting the form is a request only. A booking is confirmed once Dean has checked availability, agreed the details with you, and payment or invoice requirements have been sorted.

What information should I include?

The useful stuff is your name, email, phone, preferred date, location, what the shoot is for, which package you are leaning toward, and any must-have moments or deliverables.

What if I do not know which package I need?

That is fine. Choose the closest option, or send a general enquiry. Dean can recommend a package or build something custom once he knows what you need.

Can I opt out of marketing emails?

Yes. The enquiry forms include a marketing opt-in tick. If you do not want news or offers from TNR Protography, untick it before submitting.

Pricing & Travel

The website uses transparent package pricing, but custom requirements, travel, overtime, additional visits, accommodation, rush work, or changed scope can alter the final cost.

What are the starting prices?

These prices are pulled from the central pricing configuration:

Wedding photographyFrom $1,000
Portrait / family shootFrom $150
Real estate photographyFrom $350
Small business promoFrom $500

Full package details are on the Services & Packages page.

Are website prices a final quote?

Not always. Package prices are the base price or estimator. Final cost may change if the job needs travel, extra time, additional visits, accommodation, extra deliverables, rush delivery, or a custom brief.

How does travel pricing work?

TNR Protography is based in Greymouth. Local preset locations and custom locations within 10km of Greymouth are treated as free travel. Beyond that, travel is estimated by road distance from Greymouth.

Travel costs are charged per kilometre from Greymouth. If a job requires an overnight stay, accommodation costs will also be added.

Do you travel outside the West Coast?

Yes, Dean can travel beyond Greymouth and the West Coast when the job makes sense. Travel and accommodation are discussed upfront so there are no surprises.

When do I pay?

Payment requirements are confirmed after Dean reviews the enquiry. In general, an invoice is sent separately and final edited photos or media are not released until the invoice has been paid in full.

Weddings

Wedding coverage is built around real moments, West Coast light, and the parts of the day that matter most to you.

What wedding packages are available?
Basic wedding$1,000
Standard wedding$1,300
Deluxe wedding$1,500
Ultimate wedding$2,000

Deluxe and Ultimate include drone photography where legal, safe, weather suitable, and location appropriate.

Do wedding packages have a photo cap?

No. The site works on guaranteed minimums, not an artificial cap. You get the edited images that are worth delivering, rather than a strict tiny limit.

Should we make a shot list?

Yes, especially for family and group photos. A simple must-have list helps make sure the important people and combinations are not missed while still leaving room for candid moments.

Can you photograph small weddings or elopements?

Yes. The Basic and Standard wedding options are suited to smaller days or limited coverage. Larger timelines can use Deluxe, Ultimate, or a custom plan.

Can drone shots be used at a wedding?

Sometimes. Drone work depends on weather, safety, location, permissions, and airspace. It should be arranged in advance rather than added at the last minute.

Portraits & Family

Portraits, family sessions, pets, cars, engagements, birthdays, and relaxed personal shoots are handled in a natural style without stiff posing.

What portrait packages are available?
Standard Shoot + Edit$150
Extended Shoot + Edit$200
Birthday Shoot + Edit$250
Engagement Shoot + Edit$300
Can I bring kids, pets, cars or props?

Yes. These shoots are suited to real people and real interests, including families, kids, maternity, pets, cars, couples, and personal shoots. Mention anything important when you enquire.

What should we wear?

Keep it simple and comfortable. Avoid heavy logos or clashing patterns, and bring an extra layer if the shoot is outdoors. For engagement shoots, two outfit options can give you more variety.

Are portrait packages for events or businesses?

No. The standard portrait/family packages are not intended for events or business work. Use an event, corporate, real estate, or promo option for commercial or event needs.

Where can portrait shoots happen?

Local free-travel options include Greymouth, Rapahoe Beach, Blaketown Tiphead / Beach, and Cobden Tiphead / Beach. Other locations are possible and travel may apply.

Real Estate, Events, Drone & Video

Commercial-style work can include property photos, drone aerials, real estate video, private events, corporate events, and short business promo clips.

What is included in real estate photography?

The real estate photo package covers professionally edited photos of the house and property. A full real estate package can include video, interior/exterior photos, and drone use.

Real estate photography$350
Full real estate package$850
How should I prepare a property?

Clean surfaces, open curtains, turn lights on, hide bins and clutter, move vehicles, and prepare outdoor areas before Dean arrives. Access and presentation are the client’s responsibility.

What drone services are available?
Aerial roof photos$150
Aerial property photos$250
Drone add-on$100

Drone work must be arranged at least one week in advance and is location, weather, safety, and airspace dependent.

Do you cover private and corporate events?
Private events$300
Corporate events$350

Private events are suited to birthdays, parties and celebrations. Corporate coverage can suit launches, awards nights, work functions, and branded events.

What is the small business promo package?

It is a short finished promo clip, generally around 30-40 seconds, designed to showcase your business. A photoshoot is included.

Small Business Promo Package$500

Delivery, RAW Files & Usage

The final result is edited digital media, delivered after payment, with usage rights for the purpose agreed in your booking.

How are photos delivered?

Final edited JPG files are delivered digitally unless something else is agreed. Video and promo work is supplied as finished media rather than unfinished project files.

Do I get RAW or unedited files?

Generally, no. RAW or unedited files are not supplied unless a specific package says otherwise. The drone roof-check package specifically notes RAW files are provided.

Who chooses the final images?

Final image selection, editing style, creative direction, and delivery format remain at TNR Protography’s discretion unless something specific is agreed in writing.

Can I use the photos online?

Yes, once payment is complete, you receive usage rights for the agreed purpose, such as personal use, event use, business promotion, or property marketing. TNR Protography retains copyright.

Can I request extra editing or a reshoot?

Extra editing, reshoots, changed scope, additional visits, overtime, or new deliverables may add cost if agreed or required. If you have a specific need, raise it before the shoot.

Prints

Selected work can be turned into physical prints or framed pieces, including images from your shoot or Dean’s landscape, aurora and astro portfolio.

Do you offer prints and frames?

Yes. Print and frame options are available in several sizes.

4 × 6 inch framed print$25
8 × 12 inch framed print$50
12 × 18 inch framed print$100
Can I order a print from the portfolio?

Yes. Send through the image or gallery you are interested in and Dean can confirm the available size, finish, framing, and price.

Do booking clients get print discounts?

Yes. The pricing configuration includes a 20% print discount for bookings.

Aurora, Astro & Personal Work

Dean’s personal photography includes aurora, astro, landscapes, nature, and experimental bucket-shot style images, alongside his client work.

Do you sell aurora or landscape prints?

Yes. If you see an aurora, astro, landscape, or bucket-shot image you want for your wall, send a message with the image and Dean can confirm options.

What is Spot The Aurora?

Spot The Aurora is Dean’s NZ-made aurora forecasting app. It was built from Greymouth to make aurora chasing easier to understand, without needing to decode raw space-weather data at midnight.

Can I book an aurora or astro-style shoot?

You can enquire, but night-sky work depends heavily on weather, moonlight, location, timing, safety, and whether the sky actually performs. It is better treated as a conversation than a standard package.

Send The Details.

Every shoot is a little different. If this page does not answer it, send Dean a message and he will help you work out the best option.
